Deborah
Keay
Deborah Keay graduated from Queen’s
University with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering
in 1994. She earned her Professional Engineer
designation in 1996 and has been a member
of the Professional Engineers of Ontario
since that time. In 2004, she began her
Ontario Building Code Certification process.
The examinations and certifications are
under the jurisdiction of the Ministry
of Municipal Affairs and Housing. She
is now a Certified Designer in Plumbing
(All Buildings), Plumbing (House), Small
Buildings and House. Throughout her career,
Deborah has undertaken continuing education
and professional development courses such
as Project Management, Conflict Resolution,
Tendering, and Successful Construction
Projects. She is currently enrolled at
Ryerson University’s Chang School
of Continuing Education and is taking
additional courses in Architectural Preservation
and Conservation.
Deborah worked in
various capacities in the Land Development
Industry from 1994 to 2005. During that
time she gained experience in detailed
engineering design, contract preparation
and administration, project management
and trouble-shooting, customized software
development and cost estimating. Deborah’s
designs are well thought out and well
detailed which makes it easy for reviewing
authorities to approve her work. Her proactive
approach to design permits her to address
potential problems before they occur –
saving the client both time and money.
She is currently
the Treasurer and active member of the
local branch of the Architectural Conservancy
of Ontario. Born and raised in Peterborough,
Deborah, her husband and two sons live
in a century home in the Old West End
of Peterborough.
